Session Description
Who are the forgotten generation in housing? People on lower incomes have little prospect for housing, especially younger people. The population aged over 65 own almost half of the UK's housing wealth, with just 5.1% held by those under 35. The planning system misses them out as they open market housing is too expensive and they are a very low priority for Social Housing. Can it be resolved? We explore innovative solutions and review Mix Developments' model that allows people on low incomes to own a home, paying less than Local Affordable Housing Allowances or Living Rents.
