The real estate Industry is behind other industries in digitalization, and nowhere is this more apparent than in Japan. First I describe five challenges to digitalization unique to Japan and their origins. Then I describe four solutions to address these Japanese challenges using a variety of AI technologies: RPA, OCR, Image Processing, NLP, Deep Learning, etc. These include scanning paper property information into a database, raster floorplan vectorization, apartment self-viewing with a smartlock, and a fully digital property purchasing and management processing. Finally, I describe unique opportunities in Japan leveraging these and other technologies. Naturally, many of these solutions are useful outside Japan, so we are hugely interested in collaboration and cooperation across the globe.
